Christmas Crafts

Crafts, it's what makes the holiday time such a cozy time for me.  I love giving home made treats all through the season.

I'm not a seamstress, so the crafts that I do usually involve glue, but no needle and thread.   Most of the supplies needed are available at craft or country stores.  At the bottom of this page, you'll find some more Christmas crafts sites.  Enjoy!

holly.gif (566 bytes)Holiday theme potpourri sachet ornaments

What you'll need:
A glue gun and glue sticks
Paper sachets filled with potpourri, the front printed with a nice picture
Lace
Thin colored ribbon in the main color of the picture on the sachet
(optional) bells, little flowers or other decorations

Glue lace all around sachet.  Then glue a strip of ribbon on the inner side of the lace, so it frames the sachet.  Make small bows of ribbon and glue them in the corners.  Add bells or flowers if desired.

Glue ribbon on the back of the sachet in a loop to hang.  Nice in the tree, but also to decorate other rooms.

setta.gif (609 bytes)Decorative cinnamon stick bunches

What you'll need:
4 cinnamon sticks per bunch
A few pine twigs (small), real or fake
Small (unbreakable) Christmas ornament - prettiest if shiny
Red ribbon
wire

Bundle the cinnamon sticks in the center with the twigs and ornament(s).  Wind some wire around it to secure.   Tie a bow of red ribbon around the bunch to finish the package.  Great for place settings or a few of them as a centerpiece.

What you'll need:
Oranges
Cloves
Tooth picks (optional)
Gold ribbon (thin, or wavy)

Using the tooth picks to prick holes, stick the cloves on the oranges in a pattern (swirl, straight lines vertical or horizontal).  Then wrap the ribbon around and into a bow.  Smells great!

setta.gif (609 bytes)Reindeer broom

What you'll need:
Cinnamon broom
small red bows (2)
a red pompom ball (for the nose)
2 big "eyes"
Christmas ribbon enforced with wire on both sides
craft wire

Split the top of the broom into "ears" and tie the red bows around them to keep them separated.  Hot glue the eyes and the red ball for the nose.

Wrap the broomstick with ribbon and tie ribbon in a bow around the "neck" .   Attach a wire loop in the back to hang if desired.
